Zombies and survivors! Welcome to Day 5 of the Snowpocalypse Challenge! Thank you all for being a part of this exciting adventure!

After surviving the avalanche yesterday with only a ripped backpack and some lost items, you had to make a choice as it was nearing dark.

If you chose Option 3, you climbed up the hill. You know Route 12 is… up. So you get to hiking.

The going is tough. The avalanche left the snow unstable, and without your snowshoes you sink every few steps.

You climb and struggle, oh so slowly, up the hill.

You have not reached the road by the time it is dark. You press on. You started climbing the hill to find the road and you will continue, damnit!

It’s full dark. You are pressing on. In autopilot mode. You must get to your partner. Sheer love and loyalty are driving you.

You finally cannot go anymore. Your muscles are done. You do not have the energy or strength to dig a snow cave. You cover yourself best you can with the emergency blanket.

As you close your eyes you have a thought. What if the avalanche covered the road?

You have been sweating for hours from the tough hike.

Your body succumbs to hypothermia from the sweat soaking your base layers. You have perished.

All daily participants still win! Not only are you acquiring valuable survival advice, you will receive a portion of the prize pool even if you died in the game, although not eligible for the Grand Prize.

If you chose Option 2, you stepped into a clearing and fired the flare gun, using the only flare you had left. You cover yourself as best you can with the emergency blanket and wait.

• Choosing to use your one flare without knowing if there are rescuers nearby was not the best choice. The town is paralyzed. It is best to use your flare when you a certain someone is looking.

Temperatures drop dramatically overnight. You die before morning from exposure.

If you chose Option 1, you begin fashioning a snow cave. Using your gloved hands and booted feet, as well as a boulder for wall/windbreak, you have a sort of concaved cave-like structure. You also used your multitool knife to cut some evergreen branches for support and structure.

You cover yourself as best you can and fall into an exhausted sleep.

You make a plan in the morning over your savory breakfast of energy bar and water. You fill the now empty canteen with snow and secure it over your base layers and under your coat so it can melt from your body heat. You will not need to shake it every so often as you will be hiking.

Luckily you find both your snowshoes while constructing your snow cave!

This can happen, true story!

You set off up the hill at an angle so as not to exert, and sweat, too much, knowing the dangers of sweat in this scenario.

You hike.

Movement below catches your eyes through the trees. You make sure it’s not a predator then call out. They respond but the wind carries it and you cannot understand.

The human begins crashing through the snow toward you. You carefully maneuver through the hillside so as to avoid injury.

You cannot believe it! Your heart soars, it’s your partner!

You meet in a crash and hug for a small eternity.

Your partner looks pale. You examine and note with a stomach churn that their hands are showing the telltale signs of frostbite, white and slight swelling.

What do you do?

Option 1 Immediately start a fire for warmth

Option 2 Place their hands on your chest under your layers

Option 3 Rub the afflicted hands for circulation

I will put the three choices in the comments. Place your choice in the corresponding comment. There is one choice that is best for survival.

In 24 hours I will post the challenge for Day 6 as well as the answer to the correct choice.

Everyone who participates in each day's challenge is a winner! The Grand Prize winner will receive 70% of the prize pool. And all other participants who play every day will receive an equal share of 30% of the liquid SBD Prize Pool, even if you die in the game.

Good Luck!
