Hi everyone! It's time for the a weekly battle challenge, and the challenge for this week is Dragons. For this challenge, I’m using quite a number of Dragon Cards with Quix the Devious as my summoner. I've previously shared much about Djinn Chwala and Chaos Dragon, so I'll share a little about the Runic Skyclaw and the Void Dragon used in this battle.

About the Monsters

Runic Skyclaw
Runic Skyclaw is a Rare card which is great at level 1 with 5 Health, 3 Shield and a good Ranged damage (3). It also has the Flying and Snipe ability. It gets the Reflection Shield ability from level 5 and Giant Killer ability at level 8. I’m using the basic level 1 version.

Void Dragon
Void Dragon is a Legendary card with low Magic attack (1) and decent amount of Health (7), and has the Flying and Void ability. It gains the Phase ability at level 3. I’m using the basic level 1 version.

PositionNameDescription
1Fungus FiendIt's here as the sacrificial lamb, to take the initial damage.
2Djinn ChwalaIt has has 9 Health, 5 Shield and the Thorns ability against melee attacks. It’s the main tank and its Shield can shield it against Earthquake for 1 or 2 rounds.
3Naga AssassinIt has low health and it's here to attract Monsters with the Opportunity ability, should the opponent use any.
4Chaos DragonA good Dragon card with high Health (10), with the Flying and Scattershot ability.
5Void DragonA good Dragon card with decent amount of Health (7), with the Flying and Void ability.
6Runic SkyclawIt has the Snipe and more importantly, the Flying ability, and also does good damage.

Strategy

The ruleset for Earthquake meant that the best strategy to take is to use cards with high health, high shields, and with the Flying ability as much as possible. As such, I chose to use the Dragon Splinter as I had a fair number of cards with the Flying ability. And the Melee Mayhem ruleset meant that Melee attack cards in the deck will attack the main tank. So my strategy was to place the flying cards towards the back of the deck, so that they can last beyond the Earthquake damage on the opponents' non-flying monsters.

I must say that this was an easy fight, as the opponent didn't have many flying cards, and the Earthquake damage helped to take them out relatively fast in addition to damage from my deck. The Djinn Chwala was fairly important in helping to reduce the health of the opponent's Melee cards. I ended the battle with hardly any damage to the 3 cards left, which was why I thought was a fairly easy fight.

Thoughts on the cards

I love Dragons as there are so many great Dragon cards, and they usually have high attack and high health. However, they usually have high mana costs, with a few lower mana costs ones like the Naga Assassin and Void Dragon. Chaos Dragon, Void Dragon and Runic Skyclaw were great in the ruleset with their Flying ability.
