Yes, the similarities of the Russian deeply escheloned defences today and 80 years ago are staggering.

Also, just like the Germans 80 years ago, the Ukrainians have no choice.

If they don't attack then The West will lose interest and stop sending weapons and Ukraine will collapse.

If they do attack they have a very small percentage change of making enough breakthrough to justify continued Western support and can perhaps draw NATO into a direct conflict.

That would increase Ukraine's chance of victory from 5% to 15% but increase the chance of Russian troops on the streets of Paris and Berlin to 50% and increase the chance of nuclear war to 25%.
