Dimler AG, owner of Mercedes-Benz is coming out with their own, centralized blockchain digital currency in order to award environmentally friendly drivers.
In order to get the coins the driver’s car will have to be monitored for speed, acceleration, brakes etc.
Some insurance companies in US (such as Progressive Insurance) offer discounts to drivers that allow monitoring and prove that they drive the way Progressive thinks they should.
I’m sure at some point all Mercedes cars, possibly all cars will have similar devices.
Freedom is dying a death by a thousand cuts.
Isn’t it enough that every click of the mouse, every stroke of the keyboard, every purchase and website looked at is monitored and the data stored, sold and resold?
Isn’t it enough that all people’s social media posts are probed for personal information which is compiled by various government agencies and private companies?
I for one would rather not agree to have all my info sold or used to attempt to manipulate me and my buying interests.
Has all the data gathered by the government prevented any attacks? Even when they are given all the information they need, they still don’t act on it, such as with the FBI and the Parkland shooter.
So what is the point for all this control and manipulation? Why would Mercedes give a damn how you drive after you bought their car?
We have to live, buy and deal with all this spying and cataloging. It’s impossible to avoid it all. But at least don’t volunteer for it. The miserable pittance you get for a reward is not worth the loss of freedom.
