So... I was just thinking that even with steem at such a low level in terms of value it's still the best social media out there in my personal opinion.
In the last 9 days or so I've made around $16 posting the same stuff I post on Facebook, which is basically photography pictures and some blog posts I typed up.
And... That is more I've made on steem than I've ever made on any other social media.
I've never really made a single penny posting on Facebook or any other social media.
Well... Technically I made like $4 on YouTube before they changed the rules for smaller accounts, but was unable to cash out because they have I think a $15 or $20 limit on adsense before you can cash out?
This is happening when the value of steem is at like 13 cents, down from around $8 if I remember correctly? To virtually rock bottom.
$16 in 9 days is not very much I know, unless the value goes back up, if it was at previous highs that $16 would be worth around $128 I think, and I think that's a good amount for sharing a few pictures and some words.
Even with the low crypto value right now it's still in my opinion the best social media that's out there... Unless you have like tens of thousands of followers/subscribers on YouTube or some other site you probably don't make much, if anything.
Though, even small users who don't have a big following can make cash on steem.
To be fair I haven't cashed out any of my steem yet, so I haven't technically made anything there either, lol. But, my account is worth over a thousand dollars and it used to be worth 50 thousand dollars when steem was at it's high and it takes some time to power down, yet I can cash out if I want to.
I think steem may some day go back up in value too! But even at 13 cents..
It's dare I say... Still the most lucrative social media for smaller social media people that I'm aware of.
And maybe I missed one...? I dunno, but this is what I know and feel right now.
Even more important in my opinion than money is the ability to speak more freely.
It's almost impossible to get censored on steem unless you do something super illegal and horrible.
I have never been censored on steem, I have been censored quite a few times on Facebook and elsewhere.
Oh and... I just heard of another new social media recently called WT.social? Apparently it's linked to Wikipedia and is very similar to that.
Which is intriguing and I would say probably an improvement to something like Facebook in numerous ways.
I found this quote about WT.social which is concerning and I'm not sure how the specifics work, but... I wonder about how people might be censored there.
"We will foster an environment where bad actors are removed because it is right, not because it suddenly affects our bottom-line"
I'm not an expert at this subject, but after a quick look WT.social does not appear to be block chain based and is also not tied to a cryptocurrency.
I could be wrong, though I'm pretty sure it is not blockchain or crypto related which makes me much less interested in it than steem.
Plus, I'm guessing it's more difficult to be censored on steem as well, but I'm not positive as I don't know more of the details of WT-social.
I would try it out if I had the time, lol. And maybe I will someday if it continues to grow. Though... There's too many friggin social media. It can be difficult to even keep up with all the different ones at this point.
Let alone have a presence on all of them! smh
I realize these posts about social media stuff generally don't do well or get much feedback or interaction, but this was on my mind today so I went with it.
For anyone who may have happened to have read all this, do you know of a social media that you think is better than steem based ones?
What's your favorite social media? And why do you use it?
There's so much happening and so many different new apps and idea, I'm curious to see where this will go.
Anyways... I think that's about it for now, I just wanted to make a small post about some of my feelings about some steem and social media stuff. Peace!
