Friends, today I invite you to take a walk with me along one of the streets of the ancient city of Makariev, which is located in the Kostroma region on the Vladivostok-St. Petersburg highway.
My walk started from the city bus station and then along the very first street from the bus station. The streets in this city are located radially. This street is the farthest from the city center and therefore very long. The city is old, the street is old and there are many old houses on it.



This is the closest house to the bus station and it immediately shows the state of the city. The house is already badly askew. All this is due to the fact that the house stands without a foundation. At best, during the construction of this house and others like it, large stones were placed in the corners, and the first log was below the ground level.
But look, friends, what beautiful platbands around the windows!









Here is a typical house on the street I was walking down. If you look more broadly, this is a typical house built in the middle of the last century, not only in this city but also in other settlements of Russia. It is usually called the village house. Everything is straightforward and has no frills. The difference is only in size, but the difference is negligible.



This house is already ending its life. Now he is waiting for it to be dismantled and maybe a new house will be built in its place, which will already be much larger in size.






Look, friends, what beautiful platbands. In this city, all the houses of old houses have beautiful window frames. Probably, the neighbors used to even compete with each other in the beauty of these platbands. It was impossible to compete in the beauty of a simple log house, so the owners of the houses tried to decorate it with siding and platbands.






Friends, have you noticed that the window frames in these houses are not plastic, and the old wooden ones? Now it is rare to find such a thing. And these windows are very amazing. In a wooden house, the windows are usually rectangular, and in this house the upper beam is rounded. Such frames in the old days were only in brick houses because there was no method of installing concrete beams yet.












This street is very wide and spacious. But between the houses on one side, on the contrary, there is little space. The houses are tight. There is no such space on the streets that are located closer to the city center.






Shop. It's probably still functioning. Or maybe someone uses it as a storage room because I don't see a banner indicating the work schedule. But the tracks from the cars are visible.






And this house was built, most likely, in the 80s of the last century. My mother-in-law lives in a similar house. Such a house in my homeland was called "girder because it was built from a wooden rectangular beam with a size of 150mmx150mm. Our whole country in that Soviet time was standardized and typical.



The street is long, I was walking about 2 and a half kilometers in one direction and saw another store. He was almost the twin of the first store!









It seems that this house has begun to be prepared for dismantling. But maybe even someone decided to repair it. Probably, the owner of the house has changed. It seems to me that this house may well stand for more than a dozen years if it is well cared for.






Such houses began to be built in this city at the end of the last century, at the beginning of the 21st century. House for 2 families. The entrance to the house is on the left and on the right. And often the decoration of the walls of the house is different and even the coating on the roof may be different. It can even be funny sometimes.


That was the end of my walk on this street. I followed it to the intersection with another street and went in the opposite direction. Yes, there are very long gaps on this extreme street from the center without intersecting with other streets.
There will be other walks around this ancient city. I like to walk on it. I do not know how many more years I will visit this city. As long as my mother-in-law lives there, I will go there.
