Hello Everyone.
This plant grows very thick in my garden, we call it Buah Renda. Actually this tree has a scientific name, namely Carissa Carandas. We deliberately planted it in our yard because this tree is a flowering shrub in the Apocynaceae family. Although this plant is commonly found in areas with high temperatures, it can also grow in abundance in tropical areas.
Many people believe that the Carissa Carandas fruit has benefits for several health conditions, such as skin diseases, digestive diseases, diabetic ulcers, and the prevention of anemia. But I have not found any references to research on the benefits of this fruit.
The beautiful white needle-like flowers bloom in a few days and then fall from the stems. After the flower has fallen off, the stalk grows into a fruit seed up to the size of the index finger.
Young leaves look red-green and a week later they turn dark green. the plant not only has leaves, but the Carissa carandas plant has sharp thorns on each branch. It is very scary to approach him. I was once stung by a thorn of this plant, so I felt really hot and sore on my finger. So please don't fight with this plant if you want to feel good.
When I was little, I ate the fruit of this plant very often. This fruit has thick white juice and also a very sour taste when on the tongue. Sometimes I feel pain in my teeth because of a very strong sour taste. The color of this fruit is different. It looks pink when still young and has a very sour and chelating taste, but this fruit, when ripe, has a fresh sweet and sour taste.
Common names in English include Bengal currant, Christ's thorn, Carandas plum, Karonda, Karanda, and Kanna.wikipedia.
