Seeds have always fascinated me. Sometimes without paying attention, flowers wither after the period we like so much and little by little the reproductive organs change into future seeds.
All of this happens almost invisibly, and yet, in secret, plants are preparing their future. This free act per excellence has always made me feel humbled by the diversity and power of creation.
So, whenever I have the opportunity, wherever possible, I collect mature seeds, making sure to leave a good portion if I am in a wild or particularly protected area ! It's important to discover, while taking care not to despoil these places where we came to seek a form of peace
A bit like I don't understand those who leave behind their waste in Nature or anywhere else !
A small glimpse of a part of our collection...
Yesterday, when I paid a little more attention to the nasturtiums, I discovered that their seeds had hatched.
They come in pairs or threes and if they detach easily, they are "mature" and therefore fertile.
Before storing or replanting, they should be allowed to air dry until they are all yellow and shrivelled. A bit like the one in the centre above :)
This discovery got me going and I started to poke around until I found these white borage plants whose seeds had also reached maturity !
My brother and I were talking about it a few days ago, but as in a garden there is always something to pick up, the cycles intertwine and intersect without breaking. All in continuity, as we ourselves perhaps one day manage to become truly stable and balanced.
The seeds are here in small pods and this is my harvest. Quite badly photographed I must say :)
Finally, I came across this species that I don't know the first thing about but had already noticed how light and plump the flowers looked at the same time.
A little more details below this picture :
- Freshly harvested nasturtium seeds
- Those of the plant I don't know (yet !)
- A very very dry lemon, not sure if the seeds are still fertile, but who knows (?)
- These are the seeds of the borage
- Of pumpkin
- Here it's miscellaneous, a joyful mixture of seeds, pits and seeds found just about everywhere !
- And finally, several varieties of old wheat offered by a miller from the south of France.
One of the simplest solutions I haven't mentioned is to harvest the seeds of the vegetables and fruits you eat and love! It's simple and with organic food, it works almost every time!
As long as it's not GMOs fed with pesticides!
After this fruitful collection, I joined some friends who were repotting different plants and looking after their plot. (Although this one will soon be out of reach, like ours).
Below, the gigantic ivy root that they managed to dig up after intense efforts :)
Here is this article which aims, among other things, to titillate your attention and your curiosity ;) I know that for me it has become like a game, and then the present is the only thing that really belongs to us, let's not let anyone steal it ! That and the generous gratuity we can sometimes be capable of, inspired by the much more extensive one of Nature...!
I wish you a beautiful evening ... or day, depending on where you read these lines :)
See you soon, take care of yourself,
