Good evening, HIVE friends, wherever you are. As always, I hope you are all healthy and happy, allowing you to go about your daily activities as usual. I hope you all have a wonderful day.
Still around Km 0 on Weh Island, this time I want to share some more images of the place I visited a few days ago.
So, keep following my simple blog to explore this place through the images I share. There will also be a short post from me later.
In this blog, I'd like to share my travel experience to one of the tourist destinations on Weh Island, specifically at Km 0. I've already shared a glimpse of the Km 0 Monument area in a previous blog.
My friends...
The Km 0 Monument on Weh Island marks the westernmost point of Indonesia. This tourist destination has become a prime destination for tourists visiting Sabang, as it is an icon of Weh Island.
Upon entering the area, we were immediately directed to the motorcycle parking area. There, I saw a well-maintained and neatly maintained road for visitors' vehicles, maintained by the officers and guards of this tourist destination area.
After parking the vehicle, we continued on foot for about 100 meters to the Km 0 Monument.
Along the way, I encountered street vendors selling souvenirs, including clothing with distinctive Sabang Island motifs and various other items typical of the island. I saw markets along both sides of the road, traditionally constructed from wood and covered with tarpaulin. Although simple, they numbered all the way to the Km 0 Monument, which I estimate stretches for about 80 meters.
I also didn't miss visiting one of these markets to buy a shirt with an Pulau Weh motif as a souvenir and a token of my visit to Indonesia's westernmost island.
After passing a road lined with simple markets flanked by shady trees on both sides, the atmosphere suddenly changes as we enter the Km 0 monument area. Here, I see visitors focused on capturing and immortalizing moments with family and friends. When I look to my right, I'm immediately greeted by the blue monument marking the boundary and serving as an icon of the island: the Km 0 Monument. This light blue monument resembles a circular tower with a spiral staircase outside. From below, the words Kilometer Zero Indonesia are visible in the distinctive red and white colors.
My friend...
This area isn't just a photo monument; it's a marker, a sign that this is where Indonesia begins its journey eastward. The first westerly winds to touch this country originate from here. The atmosphere around this monument is bustling, lively, and warm.
As I mentioned above, the atmosphere here is lively, warm, and packed with visitors.
Here are some pictures I took in front of the Km 0 Monument.
I hope these images give you a glimpse of the atmosphere at the westernmost point of Indonesia.
For me, this was a very valuable experience, considering this was my first time visiting Weh Island and enjoying a tourist destination at the westernmost point of Indonesia. For me, this monument is a monument of immense history. From this point on, the struggle to defend this country all the way to Merauke began. It was not easy to unite such a vast nation under such inadequate conditions at the time. Just imagine, it was a grueling struggle during World War II.
Those are some images of the Tugu Km 0 Monument tourist destination I visited a few days ago.
I hope you all enjoyed and enjoyed what I've shared on this blog. I also want to express my sincere gratitude to all of you who took the time to view and read my blog to the end.
Please leave your comments, support, and input, as it means a lot to me, so I can make this blog even better in the future.
That's all for now.
Greetings everyone, and see you in my next blog.
