After a year of uploading Vlogs/ Comedy Skits 2-3 times a week. Collaborating and staying active on the Youtube platform (commenting and liking other creators content) this is what I have to show for it:

YOUTUBE LIFETIME.png

Right now, I have 309 Subscribers and over 150,000 watch minutes which is pretty decent for someone who was sitting with zero subs and no watch minutes to shake a stick at a year prior.

Don't get me wrong, I am grateful for the audience I have on Youtube and really felt I grew as a creator over the last year. The more I created the more I learned about the platform and myself.

Flashback to The Summer of 2017:

The first AD-pocalypse just hit the Youtube community HARD and after watching a video from lukewearechange@lukewearechange I discovered Steemit. As an investor in crypto and believer in the blockchain, it seemed like the platform of my dreams. I was hopeful and eager to start contributing my comedy vlogs to the platform.

At the time, the trending or hot posts where all related to crypto, the blockchain, and alt-news. WHICH IS GREAT. Although, as a comedy content creator, I was discouraged and didn't see how I could break through the popular content and lost interest.

TOP 10 VIDEOS.png

Above is a list of my most popular videos over the course of my YouTube career to date. I feel these videos I did well due to the search query pleasing titles and valuable subject matter. If I kept up this trend I would probably have more subs and views today.

WHY I DIDN'T DO IT AND WHAT HOPES I HAVE FOR DTUBE:

I'm not a reporter. I like sharing what I know but more than anything I want to be a comedian, a performer, and a filmmaker. I don't believe in the 'means to an end' approach in life. I was afraid of being pigeonholed as something I'm not, trapped to the content expectation of my subs.

So.

I just made content that resonated with what I want to do with my life and it didn't even come close to the views the popular content was getting.

FAV VIDEOS.png

These are my favorite videos I've made so far and I will be posting them to DTube of the next few days.

I have high hopes and feel DTube is a platform still in its infancy, a place where good and honest content creators are still celebrated.

My writing partner and I are trying to fund the projects we have planned based on the themes of those videos. Hopefully, we have more success on this platform and meet some awesome creators we would have otherwise never seen on Youtube.

Why doesn't Youtube have a Discover tab?! If you're not pleasing the search or recommend sidebar, good luck.

At least with Dtube, the transparency is built in and trending tags are right there for the picking. I just hope it doesn't become like ThemTube.
