It doesn't matter if they are too young or too old, they always act like 6-year-old kids, playing and running everywhere, it is like they don't know what it means to be geriatric! They are always thinking about playing, eating and when we come back home, those three simple things to make them happy for their entire life.
One day they could be at 100%, with a lot of energy and doing what they want, but sometimes they get sick very quickly and it's a horrible feeling because they can't talk and tell us what is happening...
Having a dog is a roller coaster of emotions we don't know what will happen in the next days or even in the next hour. Sometimes hard moments can be stressful, because they in a way are part of our family, that old believing in some countries of Latin America of thinking that they are just animals* is vanishing, everyone love them, and governments are creating laws for their rights and those are big steps!
My dog, despite is 11-year-old, is very active. Part of that activity is because I always had given her a good diet, and now I'm giving her daily supplements like every geriatric person does. Believe when i say she is a crazy girl, every day she surprises me with something new!
One of the things I'm glad about studying vet medicine is I can learn about the latest treatments and implementations discovered to extend their lives. Most of them are too expensive, other ones are imposible to acquire in my country, but the important thing is that they exist, and who knows I could manage it in the future when I work as veterinarian.
Every dog has its own story, own personality, and even their own tastes! I have seen dogs that even like vegetables! (of course, only the safe ones), others like mine, can't pee or poo if it isn't in our backyard, she literally had waited an entire day when she was hospitalized just to pee in the backyard. The point is, they aren't human beings, but they are living beings, with feelings, emotions, and thoughts.
Dogs are unpredictable, just like cats, they are living in the same world, but they are different in many aspects, even in medicine! But both of them change everything for the better, giving you the most enjoyable journey of feelings until they pass away.
