¡Saludos comunidad!

Greetings community! In this week's challenge I want to tell you about a strategy with which I have been applying the "Martyr" ability using the Earth Splinter. I usually like to use it in games with a medium - high mana limit. The cards that allow this strategy to be carried out are the following: Fungus Flinger, is an Earth Splinter monster, and is of the common type. And Venari Marksrat, is a Neutral monster, and is of the rare type. Both cards belong to the Reward/Chaos Legion edition.

Fungus Flinger is an interesting monster. Although from its level 1 it does not have very high attributes, its mana cost 3 and the ability "Martyr" compensate for it. And in contrast to his level 5, the difference is 2 health points, and that he acquires the ability "Blind". As I play in the Silver league in the Modern format, the ideal would be to use this card at its level 5 but I still do not have it at that level so I use it at its level 1, and its performance has been very good. The purpose of this card in our strategies is to use it as bait for enemy attacks in a key position, so that when dying the adjacent monsters benefit from the "Martyr" ability. In this way, the strategy comes into action and we can take advantage in the battle.

Venari Marksrat is a monster very similar to Fungus Flinger with the difference that it does not acquire a new ability at its maximum level for the Silver league (level 4). In addition, it is more versatile because it is Neutral. In contrast to its level 1, the difference is that at its level 4 it acquires 2 more health points. The purpose of this card in our strategies is the same as I explained above for Fungus Flinger with the difference that this card can be used with any Splinter. The ideal would be to use this card in its level 4 for the Silver league but I only have it in its level 2. However, its performance has been very good.

Let's go to battle! As I mentioned before, I usually apply this strategy in games with a medium or high mana limit. I particularly like to use the "Martyr" ability in magic damage based compositions. Today, I bring you such a battle, with a medium mana limit, and using "Fungus Flinger". In the following image you can see the battle conditions.

I used Obsidian as a summoner in order to boost magic damage. In the first position I used Failed Summoner in order to return the enemy magic damage, and protect the rest of the composition. In the second position I used Epona in order to increase the life of the composition by 1 point with her ability "Strengthen", and protect the rest of the composition in case the tank dies. In the third position I used Queen Mycelia to increase the damage returned by Failed Summoner's "Magic Reflect" through her "Amplify" ability, protect the composition by adding 2 shield points through her "Protect" ability, and contribute to the damage from the second line. In the fourth position I used Djinn Biljka in order to contribute to the damage from the second line. In the fifth position I used Fungus Flinger with the goal of increasing the attributes of adjacent monsters through his "Martyr" ability once he dies. Finally, I used Doctor Blight in order to take advantage of the enemy by applying the "Affliction" and "Poison" effects, as well as contributing to the damage from the second line without being able to be attacked thanks to his "Camouflage" ability. It should be noted that the objective of the strategy is to use Fungus Flinger as bait for "Sneak" or "Opportunity" attacks, which are very common, and thus increase the attributes of Doctor Blight and Djinn Biljka to take advantage of the enemy.

On turn 9 of round 1, Antoid Platoon was shot down by Djinn Biljka. The enemy had lost its tank, and my composition was still at the foot of the barrel.

On turn 3 of round 2, Fungus Flinger was killed by Uraeus, which allowed me to activate his "Martyr" ability, and increase the attributes of Doctor Blight and Djinn Biljka. Then, Radiated Brute was killed by Doctor Blight, the enemy had only 3 monsters, and in my composition there were still 5 left.

On the 4th turn of round 2, Uraeus was killed by a boosted attack of Djinn Biljka thanks to the ability "Martyr". The enemy was at a great disadvantage, having only 2 monsters. On turn 3 of round 3, Tenyii Striker was also killed by Djinn Biljka. Finally, on turn 2 of round 4, Queen Mycelia delivered the coup de grace, closing the battle with a beautiful victory. The strategy worked perfectly, each card fulfilled its function. And although the enemy strategy had a great physical attack power, it was not enough to face the magic damage boosted by the "Martyr" ability of my composition. All this can be seen in the following images.
