I'm making Modbap dedication patches for all my favorite HipHop producers all February for Black history month. I'm chopping the same samples they used in their beats but instead of using a sampler like an MPC or SP1200 I'm slicing samples with my Reflex Liveloop eurorack module to construct a beat using analog frequencies and voltage control. Most HipHop beats are made on samplers/computers that keep the beats on a 4/4 grid. I'm breaking the frame and coloring outside the lines of traditional HipHop. Similar to how Harriet Tubman helped free slaves, our Modbap movement is freeing HopHop from the 4/4 time signature cell.
