There are many, many moving parts to the math.

Hp gets a ~3% offset on the inflation, as long as inflation is above that 3% then stakeholders also pay for the pool.

When you flag away a post's rewards those rewards go 50% to the top 20 accounts, and 50% for the restivus.
Only a tiny fraction of the pool makes it out of the top 100.
(Nobody wants to show me that math.)

The top 20 accounts have pulled out ~>50% of the rewards pool inflation since the fork, it was likely worse on steem.
They got embarrassed at some point and started burning instead of accumulating even more, while denying the restivus those rewards.

Dalz puts out a report on their shame every month, but most of the restivus don't math.

Who joins a game that is guaranteed to have already been won by somebody else?
No investor types, that's blatantly obvious at this point.

Everybody on the planet needs a savings/retirement account and hive makes a pretty good one.
I don't believe anybody that says they only have money for food from the hive, they clearly have money to get online and if they didn't have money for food then wtf?

I guess the real life example would be when the soviet union broke up, they could have ruled over all them people in the republics, but they let them go.

Something similar is needed here.
And, could be in the unannounced plan, few would know.

Just for clarity, I think you having better information makes the place better for me, I could have had a much larger influence if somebody had told me these things when I got here.
