Hello Everybody,
I do a lot of things working behind the scenes as a theatrical stagehand... then I undo those things once the show is over. Given the ephemeral nature of our handiwork and the amount of hours we spend to have nothing but a paycheck as evidence of our labor, many of my coworkers fall prey to nihilistic life views. So, how do I stare into the abyss day after day, occasionally therein diving headlong, only to come back with the audacity to call myself "not a nihilist"? Simply put, poetry is my driving force. So, no more delays. Now I'll do what I came to do... here is my poem wrote just for you:
Surface Rich
Though the days be filled
With trinkets and mops
One side fills the air
With rumors and thoughts
While the other means
To clean the messes left
By all those worthless
Speculators
Who can know the tune
That turns to gold
'Cept him who turns
The wheels of stone
All others beg attention
And a dice roll gives one man
What another might deserve
Fortunately
After all the pie revolves
Three times, maybe more
Then across the way
We'll see who gets a slice
Til then, take care
And hope you pick the side
That doesn't care who picked
The winning side
End
Maybe you liked that and want more? Check out my trove of poetry of indeterminate quality...
