အားလုံးသောမိတ်ဆွေအပေါင်း မင်္ဂလာပါ။ ကောင်းသောနေ့လေးကို ပိုင်ဆိုင်နိုင်ကြပါစေ။

This week's contest photo is from the 2026 Myanmar New Year's Day, Thingyan. I think it's a modernized version of the Myanmar traditional Thingyan. The main photos were taken during the Mandalay Thingyan festival. The top photo was taken in Sagaing.

ဒီတပတ်အတွက် ပြိုင်ပွဲဝင်ဓာတ်ပုံကို ၂၀၂၆ ခုနှစ် မြန်မာ့ရိုးရာ နှစ်သစ်ကူးအတာသင်္ကြန်တုံးက ရိုက်ကူးထားတဲ့ပုံကို မျှဝေလိုက်ပါတယ်။ ခေတ်မီလာတဲ့မြန်မာ့ရိုးရာ အတာသင်္ကြန်လို့ပြောရမယ်ထင်ပါတယ်။အဓိကဓာတ်ပုံတွေကို မန္တလေးမြို့ လမ်းလျှောက်သင်္ကြန်မှာ ရိုက်ယူခဲ့တာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ အပေါ်ဆုံးဓာတ်ပုံကိုတော့ စစ်ကိုင်းမြို့မှာရိုက်ယူထားတာဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

Myanmar Traditional New Year Water Festival
Among Myanmar's most cherished and vibrant traditional festivals, the "Thingyan" Water Festival, marking the New Year, stands as the most prominent. Held during the month of Tagu, typically falling in mid-April, Thingyan is more than just a playful water-splashing celebration for Myanmar people. It embodies a deep-rooted significance: washing away the impurities and misfortunes of the old year with pristine water and welcoming the new year with tranquility and renewal.

မြန်မာ့ရိုးရာ နှစ်သစ်ကူး သင်္ကြန်ပွဲတော်
မြန်မာတို့၏ အနှစ်သက်ဆုံးနှင့် အစည်ကားဆုံးသော ရိုးရာပွဲတော်များအနက် “သင်္ကြန်” ဟုခေါ်သော နှစ်သစ်ကူးရေသဘင်ပွဲတော်သည် ထိပ်ဆုံးမှ ပါဝင်ပါသည်။ ယင်းသည် တန်ခူးလတွင် ကျရောက်ပြီး များသောအားဖြင့် ဧပြီလလယ်ပိုင်း၌ ကျင်းပလေ့ရှိသည်။ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံသားများအတွက် သင်္ကြန်သည် ပျော်ရွှင်စရာကောင်းသော ရေပက်ကစားခြင်း သက်သက်မျှသာမကဘဲ၊ နှစ်ဟောင်းမှ အညစ်အကြေးများကို ရေစင်ဖြင့် ဆေးကြောကာ နှစ်သစ်ကို အေးချမ်းစွာ ကြိုဆိုသည့် နက်နဲသော အဓိပ္ပာယ်ကို ဆောင်ပါသည်။

During Thingyan, the entire country, from bustling cities to quiet villages, comes alive with festivities. Major cities construct elaborate ornamental pavilions where traditional dance and song performances accompany the exuberant water-throwing. Youth often travel in open-top vehicles, joyfully soaked by the friendly water battles. In villages, the celebration is gentler, with people using small water pots and cups to share blessings with one another.

သင်္ကြန်ကာလအတွင်း မြို့ကြီးများမှ ကျေးရွာများအထိ နေရာအနှံ့အပြားတွင် စည်ကားသိုက်မြိုက်လှပါသည်။ မြို့ကြီးများတွင် အလှပြမဏ္ဍပ်ကြီးများကို တည်ဆောက်ကြပြီး၊ ယဉ်ကျေးမှု အကအလှများ၊ သီချင်းများနှင့်အတူ ရေပက်ကစားကြသည်။ လူငယ်များသည် ကားများဖြင့် လှည့်လည်ကာ ပျော်ပျော်ပါးပါး ရေစိုခံကြသည်။ ကျေးရွာများတွင်မူ အတာအိုးလေးများ၊ ရေခွက်လေးများဖြင့် တစ်ဦးကိုတစ်ဦး ယဉ်ကျေးပျူငှာစွာ ရေပက်ကြသည်။

ပုံများထဲတွင် မြင်တွေ့ရသည့်အတိုင်း ရောင်စုံရေစိုခံ အဝတ်အစားများ ဝတ်ဆင်ထားကြသော လူစုလူဝေးကြီးသည် ရေစင်များ၊ ရေပြွန်များဖြင့် တစ်ဦးကိုတစ်ဦး ရေပက်ကာ အပြန်အလှန် ပျော်ရွှင်နေကြသည်။ အထူးသဖြင့် iပုံပါဝင်သည့် စတိတ်စင်နောက်ခံရှိ မြန်မာ့ရိုးရာ ကကွက်များနှင့် “သင်္ကြန်” စာတန်းသည် ပွဲတော်၏ ထူးခြားချက်ကို ပေါ်လွင်စေသည်။ ရောင်စုံစက္ကူလေရဟတ်များနှင့် အလှဆင်ထားသော ပတ်ဝန်းကျင်ကလည်း ပျော်ရွှင်စရာကောင်းသော အငွေ့အသက်ကို ဖြည့်ဆည်းပေးထားသည်။

Just like the colourful balloons released into the sky, Thingyan uplifts the spirits of everyone. Small pavilions adorned with traditional Myanmar art and craft items, like those seen in image, remind us of the rich cultural heritage that underpins the celebration.

မြင်တွေ့ရသကဲ့သို့ ကောင်းကင်ယံသို့ လွှတ်တင်လိုက်သော ရောင်စုံမိုးပျံပူဖောင်းလေးများကဲ့သို့ပင် သင်္ကြန်သည် လူတိုင်း၏ စိတ်နှလုံးကို ရွှင်လန်းတက်ကြွစေသည်။ မြန်မာ့ရိုးရာ ပန်းချီရုပ်ကလေးများဖြင့် အလှဆင်ထားသော မဏ္ဍပ်ငယ်လေးများနှင့် မြန်မာ့လက်မှုပညာပစ္စည်းလေးများကလည်း ယဉ်ကျေးမှုအမွေအနှစ်ကို သတိရစေသည်။

While Thingyan is a time of immense fun and frolic, it is also a significant period for charitable deeds and meritorious actions. People visit pagodas and monasteries to offer alms, release fish into lakes, pay respects to the elderly, and perform ceremonial washing of Buddha images. The New Year's Day that follows Thingyan signifies a fresh beginning rooted in peace, loving-kindness, and benevolence. The Thingyan Water Festival is a testament to the beauty and vitality of traditional Myanmar culture, showcased to the world with boundless energy and joy.
