Vega, likewise assigned Alpha Lyrae (α Lyrae, condensed Alpha Lyr or α Lyr), is the brightest star in the group of stars of Lyra, the fifth-brightest star in the night sky, and the second-brightest star in the northern divine side of the equator, after Arcturus. It is moderately close at just 25 light-years from the Sun, and, together with Arcturus and Sirius, a standout amongst the most radiant stars in the Sun's neighborhood.
