It’s nearly one year since I joined Hive, September 2021 and there are still things that I should learn, but at least, I am learning each day and growing my network.

Going back from the past, when I was still a newbie, it was tough and hard to process each information about Hive. It pushes me to stop using it — but thankfully, I saved my keys to go back and write again.
No one guided me on Hive, and it is frustrating because there are things that I should learn earlier as a newbie. I feel that I am late to increase my account growth.
And I don’t like any newbie to experience the same. I want them to learn the basic things and advice that they need to do and know in Hive.
I would love to create a list that will be helpful for them. The following are the things that I didn't do when I was a newbie but you should!
One thing that I noticed on Hive is they are very active in onboarding new users on Hive, especially the OCD community. The newbies should know that creating an introduction post is not JUST an introduction.
It is how the community will know you as long as you stay on chain. How? Why? By making an effort on your introduction (probably your first post on chain) the long-time Hive users will have a good impression of you. Remember, first impressions last! So make it perfect outstanding!
This is what I haven’t done before. My introduction is a mess and I feel that I am still carrying that mess until now.
If you are a newbie, it’s not about the number of your content! It’s all about networking.
You see, I think this is one of the mistakes of newbies (not all the time). There are times that they are just writing then leave when the content is published. It’s not the right thing to do.
What you need in Hive is a network. The more friends and connections you have, the more benefits you will gain for a long term. When you are commenting, you can let them know that you are a newbie! As I said, Hive is supporting new users — but please, don’t spam!
Keep it balanced. Explore each community, especially the one that is related to your niche. Make friends, join the Discord server, and build relationships.
I admit that I am a publish and run before! But not anymore. I am adding talking with other Hive users to my daily tasks.
Yes! You have to repeat it.
So if you are a newbie, one of the most important things in Hive is your Hive power — if you are a newbie and reading this, and Hive power or power up is unfamiliar, you can get my e-book so it can guide you about this — increasing your Hive power is one of the best things that you can do on Hive.
The more Hive power, the more influence on the chain you have! Feels like a whale. By this, you are each time you curate a post. You can earn without writing — and you also have more resource credits to spend!
Yes, if you don’t really need the money, you can power up and earn more! But this is not financial advice, it’s your money after all.
The good thing is, Hive doesn’t care that much about the quantity of your words on your blog. They care much about the quality of your content.
Some Hive users are just even posting pictures but getting massive upvotes from whale curators. It is because they are posting quality photos, high resolution, professional shots, and more!
You can do it too. Unlike other platforms, quality matters more to get rewarded.
You can level up the quality of your post by formatting your blogs well. You can use awesome markdown style guides to format your blog and produce quality content.
I think this is obvious! Plagiarizing content is not a joke, it’s against the law not only on Hive but also in real life!
You don’t know this but Hive is very strict when it comes to this. There are people who are expert in finding plagiarized blog posts.
Don’t try to plagiarize, they will hunt you. And you will never like the punishment because it could be a long-time punishment.
Also, better not to spam the community. Don’t post spammy contents. Imagine you are posting 10 blogs per day…how is that even possible?
Please don’t abuse the platform!
As I said, Hive is strict, so it's better to read the rules first before doing anything.
This is the common thing when you are joining Hive communities. In Hive, there are several communities that you can join in. Each community has different owners and of course, different rules!
When you disobey the rules in the community, you will be muted. It’s not fun to have a negative case and impression of you on Hive, because you will carry it for a long time — worst, forever.
There are communities who only allow one language: English. There are for Gaming only, there are for Foods only, etc.
Each community also has a contest to keep their community active and alive!
For example, this post is my entry for Hive PH Week 3 of Buwan Ng Wika. I would suggest that you should join in these events to have more network and build your reputation in Hive.
Hive is fun (not sugarcoating, it's the truth!), and it is interesting. Don’t do the same as what I did in the past. If you are a newbie, start building your reputation as soon as possible and you will earn the fruitful success of your endeavor.
