AFRI-TUNES WEEK 167 (KUMAMA BY GRACE LOKWA) / COVER BY @ANNIEBEST
It's amazing to be here again! 💃
Welcome back to my blog, lovely people! I'm @Anniebest, and this is Afri-tunes Week 167. I’m super excited to be part of this week’s musical celebration, and for my entry, I’ll be doing a cover of the beautiful and spirit-lifting song “Kumama” by Grace Lokwa.
As a passionate lover of music, one thing that often captures my attention even before I understand the lyrics of a song is the beat and rhythm. That was exactly my experience with Kumama. The melody immediately drew me in. It had this rich, soulful, and uplifting vibe that I couldn’t resist. At first, I had no idea what the lyrics meant, but I found myself listening to it over and over again simply because of how good it sounded.
Eventually, I took the time to understand the meaning of the word “Kumama,” which translates to “Be praised” or “Glory” in Lingala, a language spoken in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Knowing the meaning of the song made me fall even deeper in love with it. It became more than just a melodious tune, it became a powerful expression of praise and worship that I could connect with on a deeper level.
I’m truly excited to share my version of this song, and I hope it blesses and uplifts your spirit the same way it does mine.
Much love always! 💞
