I want to puke if I do social studies and they carry on about the past, very one sided , so i usually tell my kids feel free to read it, we need to know about the past but we cannot live there, so I will do some history but will also focus on the history of the other cultures and more history not just how some of the books are written where the white people are made out to be the only ones that were wrong - according to me everybody made mistakes during apartheid and there were a lot of wrong doings but also a lot of good. Most of my kids see what is happening in our country and are upset by the government and they experience their parents loosing their jobs. Politics is a touchy subject and I do not want to influence them too much so I rather look at positive things like acceptance, living together in piece and like I say History of different things, but just for knowledge not to bring up hate and resentment. I am sick of the fact that we must still pay for thing our forefathers did.
