“My children will now sleep peacefully”, Roshan Ara heaves a sigh of relief after receiving humanitarian aid from Save the Children in Kishanganj, Bihar. Roshan, mother of seven, is the sole bread-winner of her family. During regular days, ensuring two square meals for her family and meeting the needs of her children is a daunting task for her. Now, with the onslaught of disastrous floods, mere survival has become a huge challenge for the family. Her village Bola Basti was inundated for more than five days. Her house was totally damaged; she and her children had to take shelter at their neighbours and food and other essential items of use were at the mercy of relatives and neighbours.
Save the Children provided Roshan's family with Shelter kit and Hygiene Kit. These kits will help them live their lives with dignity in these times of distress. She says, “With this material I found a hope, this will help us to rebuild our home and we will not need to sleep at someone else's place.”
