Blue Sargent is a 16-year-old girl, her entire family is made up of women with powers of clairvoyance. But Blue even though he does not possess such powers if he has something that does make a difference, and is that with only his presence he can increase the powers of other people. Also throughout his life he has been told the same thing: that if he comes to kiss his true love he will die.

The Raven Boys is the first book in the saga known as The Raven Cycles, written by Maggie Stiefvater.

The book begins with Blue telling her lifestyle and the typical and traditional activities of the sighted women who live with her. One of those activities is that on each of San Marcos' days, Blue accompanies her mother to the cemetery to see spirits, but these spirits are the souls of people who will die in approximately 12 months.

In that year Blue observes the spirit of a boy who has the uniform of Anglioby (a school of very rich boys), she is curious to know who he is and asks her name, which he answers with a simple: Gansey.

Let's talk about the characters first, let's start with Blue. In the book almost the first thing that is described of her is her height (which I am very pleased with this point, because they bother her about it during all the books, but I understand her since I measure the same as her) because she measures 1.50 of high; but during the rest of the book it is deepened more its character and way of acting, which I love, since very little I like the protagonists of the adolescent books. She has a very self-confident personality and most of the time is bitter, she has her clear objectives and looks for ways to fulfill them.

Now let's talk about Blue's "powers", she does not have the powers of a seer (like the rest of her family), instead she has the power to be "a battery" that increases the power of the other people around her. During the book it is shown that this power is very important for the women in your family, because it helps them too much for their prophecies.

During the book the boys of Anglioby appear (this is a school for boys with a lot of money or with fame), these guys are: Dick Gansey, Adam Parrish, Ronan Lynch and Noah Czerny.

Gansey is the typical rich kid, with a family involved in politics and an expensive school. He has an old car that calls him "piggy" that is constantly damaged, but still loves that car. But Gansey has a goal that is to find King Glendower, and that is what leads him to meet Blue, since he goes in search of a seer to help him in his search and what a coincidence, goes to the house of Blue. I thought Gansey would not like me for being a rich kid who wants to fix everything with money, but at the end it is clear that he does not do it with bad intentions, only that for him that is the first option that there is to fix the problems because that's how they raised him.

Now Adam, he is a boy who kills himself studying as he is studying at Anglioby for a scholarship that can not be lost due to low grades. The opposite of his friends does not waste any money and has two part-time jobs. Adam was always the one I liked the most because of his serious and responsible personality; and I also liked that sudden change of cliche stories, that always the main couple in history falls in love at first sight, because here it happens that the first to leave are Adam and Blue.

Ronan is a character, they describe him as the typical bad guy, who hates school and does not want to study. Well, Ronan is like that, but I like his black humor so much and he gets involved with everyone. But under that hard coat, he is a kind and animal-loving boy, which is íronic but during the book he adopts a baby raven and calls him Chainsaw. Oh! by the way Ronan has a huge black and white tattoo on the back of a crow.

And finally this Noah, he is the love made person, is a sweet and shy boy. I love how fast he takes hold of Blue and always pampers him like stroking his hair.

Now let's talk about the story, at first the book has a somewhat slow narrative regarding important events for the story, but I see that slowness is necessary since the writer presented several characters besides Blue and the Anglioby boys. But everything grabs interest since they embark on the search for Glendower, which the search leads to a magical forest that aparatemente speaks in Latin, called Cabeswater. Which said forest names Ronan as a Greywaren. Many more interesting things happen and one can not believe but I do not want to say much so there are no spoilers.

The author's writing is super fluid and not at all heavy since she does not use much narration and there is a lot of dialogue that makes reading easier. The book is narrated from the third person, which means that we almost never know what the characters think.

I tell them that I loved the first installment of this saga, that is, I liked it so much that I made a fan art of Blue.
