Lately I’ve been thinking deeply about the future of Web3 adoption specifically regarding Hive and Ecency. We often say that to achieve mass traction, we need to bring high-profile Web2 influencers and creators onto the platform.
But if we look at the ground reality, it’s a classic "Chicken and Egg" dilemma. Today, I want to break down why dropping massive creators into Hive isn't as simple as it looks and what it actually takes to succeed
In the fast-paced Web2 world (LinkedIn, Instagram), massive creators rely heavily on premium, highly-engineered packaging They use sleek infographics, cinematic covers and optimized visuals just to capture a busy user's attention in 2 seconds.
On Hive, there is a strong counter-perspective: many users prefer raw, real-world photography over flashy graphics or AI-assisted designs
• The Reality Check: If we want Web2 creators to migrate, we must welcome their presentation standards. Premium packaging isn't just "flashy graphics"—it’s the functional hook that stops a user from scrolling past high-quality text
💰 2. The Micro-Payments vs. Mega-Earnings Clash
Most influencers operate as businesses—they go where the audience and the revenue scale.
• The Conflict: If a mega-influencer onboarded today and demanded thousands of dollars in rewards would it drain the pool for the dedicated micro-creators who have been slogging here for years?
• The Solution: We can't just split the existing pie into smaller pieces. We need platforms like Ecency to build onboarding funnels that bring the audience first, ensuring external capital flows in to sustain big creators without zeroing out the community's hard work
🎨 3. Quality is King but Distribution is Queen
At the end of the day, a well-shot real-world image or an incredibly deep analytical piece of text will always hold a unique soul. But without proper formatting, clean scannability, and strategic distribution across communities (like Hive Marketing) great content gets buried
Web3 shouldn’t just be a backup archive for Web2 content; it needs to be the place where premium presentation meets authentic community value
