Storks are one of the few wild birds that are ready to hatch their chicks in captivity. I was very surprised and delighted to find that they are showing interest in building nests. Our storks cannot fly, so they chose places on low elevations. If necessary, I put a wide board on which they can go there.
Storks become sexually mature in about three years old. I watch Beak, which lives with us all his life (he fell out of their nests and broke a wing, it did not grow together correctly and this made it impossible for him to fly).
He is trying to build a nest. This is his first experience. So that he can do this, I bring him small branches, because he cannot fly and collect them on his own. I tried to help him fix the branches, but in annoyance he pulled them out and threw them away. It looked very funny.
This year I ordered several large bales of straw that can also be used by storks for nesting. They will be delivered the day after tomorrow.
