If I may now only be forced to enter the lake with the threat of a loaded revolver, then my ducks do not have such problems. They are always happy with water. Surely they are tripled in some other way and their paws do not freeze. Although this only applies to water. I always put straw on them in winter to keep their paws warm. They hide them under themselves in warm fluff.
