Yesterday, it happened that one of the employees in my store had a holiday, so I had to send my own customer orders in Bandungan, and it turned out that there was a Carnival celebrating Indonesian Independence at the Bandungan sub-district level.
I didn't expect that the carnival event here would be more crowded compared to the carnival event held by the Regency last Sunday. This is because carnival participants are not only representatives of village areas, but also from various groups and communities. Starting from traveling vegetable sellers' groups, sub-sections of sellers in the market, motorcycle taxi drivers, church groups, sports groups such as karate, pencak silat, and many more.
Various types of creations from agricultural products and produce are also paraded at this event. And this is also a blessing for the audience because after passing the judges' stage, various kinds of vegetables, fruits and flowers to decorate the ornaments for the carnival are directly distributed to the audience.
Bandungan area is famous for its many ornamental flower and vegetable growers. There is even one village that is nicknamed chrysanthemum village because almost all residents become chrysanthemum flower farmers. Central Java agribusiness terminal is also in Bandungan, so it's no wonder that Bandungan vegetables are also very famous.
Not to forget, regional arts also follow the excitement of this carnival. The original people here call it Reog, but this is different from Reog Ponorogo. It's more like jathilan, but it's not jathilan either.
