Siempre he escrito y digo, que no me gusta hechar carreras🏃
Me preguntaba, estará bien?
Vean a Gian Mathias

The Story of Gian Mathias
Hello moms and dads of this great community, I always try to give valuable content about women's health, and about my anecdotes and stories about my career, which is ## Obstetrician, we are the doctors who bring babies to the world🤰
We always suggest that moms control their pregnancy and thus avoid scares😱, or complications😱
However, sometimes despite all the forecasts and behaviors that are taken, unexpected things happen🥴
I've always written and said, that I don't like racing🏃
I always try to plan things to fit the plan, however, over time I have learned that with babies we are not in control, if not they, they rule 🧐
And Gian's story is the best example of this....
The first time I saw Gian😊
I saw Gian for the first time, when he was 28 weeks old, it was an advanced pregnancy, his parents had just moved and we had to see each other late.
Generally, obstetricians like to see a pregnancy from its beginnings in this way we can better control the pregnancy, since there are unique conditions that are seen in the first weeks, however with Gian I made an exception
We started to organize, and do what was not done in 28 weeks of gestation🤰 in the few days we had left
The unexpected
Everything was going very well, but at 32 weeks, just a month after seeing each other for the first time, Gian's mom's blood pressure began to rise 😱
It's known as ### high blood pressure, and it's a very serious condition that can affect the baby and mom.
Without a doubt, Gian was affected and he began not to gain weight, and at 34 he began to lose weight😱
These conditions are very dangerous, since due to the vascular compromise that exists, the baby receives fewer nutrients through the blood, and this happens.
Losing weight is very serious.
What happened to Gian?
It is known as ## IUGR, it is an abbreviation for a fetal pathology called ## Intra Uterine Growth Restriction
It is due to a pathology produced by the failure of the blood supply from the mother to the baby, very associated with hypertensive disorders.
Gian was affected by this
To do?
We had to apply many treatments, improve Gian's mother's blood pressure figures, send nutritional supplements so that Gian would gain weight, carry out studies to ensure that he was well, and medications to accelerate the maturation of his lungs.
When was Gian born?
The truth was not an easy decision, several things happen, one define the type of childbirth?
Natural Childbirth or Cesarean Section?
We as obstetricians are always pro natural childbirth, it is much better for the mother and the baby, however in the case of Gian it was not recommended, natural childbirth carries a significant stress process for the baby, with momentary pauses in blood flow , Gian had a flow problemthat we did not let him gain weight, it was very risky, so we decided to have a cesarean section 😷
After how many weeks?
Another important question to define when was the right time, to ensure that Gian was mature, and would not need special and important care after birth and on the other hand avoid the risk he had in being in his mother's womb🧐🤔
The literature tells us that at the moment the baby shows signs of maturity, it must be born, however with Gian there was another detail, and that is that it WAS A MALE.
Although they do not believe it, the statistics indicate that male babies bear less stress from prematurity, girls are more resistant
This got us thinking
Gian is born at 37 weeks!
Without a doubt, it was not an easy decision and it was well studied, but through ultrasound scans and evaluations, we decided that we would take the risk that Gian was born at 37 weeks.
It must be remembered that the ideal date for the birth of a baby via cesarean section electively is at 39 weeks, but with Gian waiting was a higher risk.
Gian's birth day
Came the day!!!
On April 27, the scheduled date was 8 am, we were all ready, attentive, and the pediatrician was a bit nervous.
Every surgical procedure always carries a risk but with Gian we were all up to expectations.
we all prepare
The team
On the day of Gian's birth, look for this character 👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻
Dr Vicson Alejos, who is a great friend who has supported me a lot in my work, and was my teacher, we saw Gian together, so it was excellent to prepare us to bring Gian into this world.
In addition to his surgical skill, which is undeniable, he is a great specialist in these cases, so he should undoubtedly be with us and be part of this team.
reunions
Pleasant things happen to us in our work, and without a doubt sharing with this character 👆🏻 👆🏻 was also special
Licentiate Roy instrumentalist and great friend, we met in my graduate school when I was a student, and without a doubt someone I admire a lot for his work, we had more than 3 years without buying an operating room 😷 it was great to share again, have a coffee and remember our experiences in thoseguards that seemed endless in the hospital.
It is also excellent to have a staff that I knew, since it was not easy to bring Gian, with this staff I feel more confident and I already knew from experience that they were excellent
Gian Mathias is born 😊
Gian was born without any complications, at the moment of birth he cried as if to say HERE I AM FUCKING, but I will not deny that when I saw how tiny he was I felt a little scared, we passed him to the pediatrician and the staff who were attentive to attend to him, and they take Gian .
We continue with our work, however the minutes passed and we don't know anything about Gian and the nerves begin to play against you.
I was wondering, will you be okay? Was it bad? How will it be?
The mother asked me on several occasions: and the baby doctor?
I replied: It's fine, they are taking care of him, since the pavilion is very cold.
Of course that was true, babies lose a lot of body heat fast and the pavilions are frozen to comply with their sanitary rules.
30 minutes had passed but without a doubt it seemed more to me. Then the pediatrician appears in the ward and says everything is fine with the baby.
I took a deep breath, a weight had been lifted off my shoulders and I certainly felt more relieved.
When I first saw Gian out of mom's belly
We finished surgery and I wanted to see Gian and confirm that he was okay,
And I saw him in the incubator, active with his eyes open seeing everything and I imagine that in his mind he wondered: what is this? Where I am?
I confirmed that he was breathing well, I detailed it and I felt more relieved
Well, it should be noted that Gian weighed 2100kg with 43 CM😁 if he was small🤭
Without a doubt it was very small, it seemed that it carried in both hands together
I went out and told the Pope who was waiting outside, telling him: ### everything went very well
Although they are only 4 words, they are undoubtedly the ones we always want to say when we face such delicate situations.
However, not everything was victory, we had to wait to see how Gian behaved in the First 24 hours
First 24 hours
In the first 24 hours anything can happen, the baby begins to adapt to the environment, for the first time use his lungs, so these hours are vital, until now Gian was not entirely out of danger.
I think I sent about 30 messages in those hours hahaha
We were very attentive to anything, I had the pediatrician evaluate Gian several times, to the point that he told me that I looked like the pope 🤣
But Gian behaved like a champion always
24 hours Exceeded
Gian behaved very well, and passed without problems the 24 hours of birth
Parents super happy, all of us relieved and no doubt now enjoying that baby
See Gian Mathias
This is Gian Mathias, just one day old, a little boy weighing 2100 grams, in excellent health, he came out with a special formula to gain weight and with strict care, but he did very well with his potatoes.
It was also very funny to see that everything was too big for that poor little baby 🤭
Without a doubt Gian came to do something super important in this world, this baby fought and beat all expectations, Gian made a great contribution to come to this world.
Conclusions
I can get 2 reflections from this
1: Gian is a warrior who fought to earn a place here, and he succeeded
2: Have an exceptional work team, seek help and support yourself with other specialists for the good of the mother and the baby.
That was what was done with Gian, there were many people involved so that this baby is today happy and healthy with his parents
