How good are you at saying what you mean and meaning what you say?

The old saying is a very good play on words, written by Lewis Carroll in his brilliant book "Alice in Wonderland." Would you believe it popped into my head the other day without warning and without an invite? The more I thought the more expansive and varied my answers became and the more I felt I was actually down a rabbit hole with the the March Hare.

This clever play with words is light and silly on one level that could very easily be ignored. At another level there is a philosophical psychology tone that sucks one into deeper deliberations.

Or on the other hand it could be very easily answered with simple yes or no?.

Consider a round the table scintillating dinner conversation while eating delicious food and sipping glasses of red or white, imagine the comments. I can hear the tinkle of glasses, the fun and serious comments and the laughter filling room.

Given the mix of personalities, attitudes, perspectives and humour comments like being open, frank and honest in all conversations and following through is important at all times. I remember my parents saying thinking before you speak, you can't take words back. What you put out there always comes back. Being careful to chose words in some situations and not others depending on who are in the group. Not hurting the feelings of others is important. Doing what you say is a given. You can trust your inner circle or can you? Diplomacy always works.

I have learned over many years professionally and personally one does need to always be circumspect with whom one is speaking with. We all learn as we journey along our life's bumpy slippery road. Thank goodness there are celebrations to enjoy too.
