Getting into the Christmas season mood is as easy as ABC, the Christmas songs are playing, the magazines are full of heartfelt stories and photos of famous celebrities dressed all Christmassy and the characters in Christmas movies are so heartwarmingly calm and sweet.

Before we know it Christmas fever has taken over, we visualise the tree covered with lights, baubles and tinsel, hear excited talk and laughter, smell the turkey, ham and vegetables baking, tasting the fruit mince pies, imagine the joy of unwrapping gifts and sipping on glasses of cheer feeling the warmth of Christmas togetherness.

No sweat, being enthused as the warm fuzzy spirit of love and goodwill is filled to the brim. Setting up Christmas and its trimming is going to be so much fun we think. Easy peasy!

But, can we stay feeling sublimely effervescently in the Christmas mood during the entire preparation stage?

Maybe you can or maybe not!

Given the many trips to the supermarket and other shops it is understandable to feel some uptightness, a little tension or perhaps angst dealing with the many fellow shoppers. Standing in long lines at the check out, being cut off by those engrossed in hunting down a purchase, not finding the gift you wanted, or being told the toy of all toys is all sold out. Even worse, stress really settles in watching the days slip by. Feeling a less kindly, a wee bit less jolly, frustration and weariness creeps in overtaking our mindset of seasonal joy and love.

It is not what was intended, but we are just human nonetheless.

How to change back to a positive cheerful Christmas attitude? It can be done.

I find that staying alert to the little titbits of happiness tops up my Christmas kindness to all men and women. Put it down to synchronicity or one of those in the right spot moments or however you explain it. But this morning in a busy supermarket I saw and heard two little boys sitting side by side in a trolley singing loudly, I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

The random smiles, little chats and caring shown by shop assistants and strangers always show tops up the Christmas spirits very quickly. May we remember to extend the hand of love and kindness to all our fellow shoppers this Christmas season.

I am sure that everyone has suggestions that work for them, the superb benefits of a friendly Hive community.

Twinkle twinkle lots of light,
wrapped around the tree so bright.
Tell me what you hope to bring,
health and happiness to everything.
Fill us with sparks of glee and love,
from the starry galaxy above.
