Walking through the front door was such a welcome pleasure after a week away with my highly active grown up always on the go kids. Although I loved every bit of the daytime activities, the sipping on drinks at the local bars, eating dinner at restaurants, joining in with the Little Candles ceremony party etc, I am now relishing quiet time.
While I will never turn down an offer to visit friends or family, and definitely always jump into the car or catch a plane with a bag, I am finding my good 'ahhh at home feeling' has gone up a few notches of late. When did this start happening? Maybe it has been so gradual that I was not consciously cognisant until now?
Is it because I am now in my silver years of retirement I am more self-aware? Sleeping in my own bed has always made the most comfortable sleeping but now it feels extra good. Would I be the only retiree who is feeling like this? It would not matter if I am, as getting older has come with a greater sense of individuality and confidence. As long as I am successfully living a healthy balanced life for me then I am contented. It is perfectly okay for everyone to create his/her life balance. We all see life through different lenses.
Achieving a work/play/rest life balance has to be one of the most challenging tasks for all individuals as they traverse work, socialising, home commitments, parenting kids and so on. The list is long. Pressures mount and stress fills the mind, body and soul no matter the intentions and efforts to stay healthy and stress free.
I finished my working life with chronic stress in my body. And I really thought that I had my stress under control. I am proud to say that in my current beach themed retirement life stress does not feature too high. I sincerely hope that all my fellow retiree #silverbloggers are living the stress free life.
