A sunny pause from a week of heavy unrelenting rain was the perfect excuse for a much needed walk yesterday to the surf beach across the road. To mark the occasion it just happen to be Wednesday Walk day, a tag created and managed by Mr Nice Guy @tattoodjay.
Not surprisingly the heavy rain and powerful wind from the low pressure trough had magically turned the usual serene sandy beach into a dramatic nature war zone. It was an amazing wow open mouth kind of sight! A large number of logs and debris had been lifted and dropped onto the beach from the nearby Coolum creek and Maroochydore River.
It was evident that helpful people had been busy stacking the tree branches out with the purpose of shifting them before the next predicted low pressure trough. I find it heartening that there are so many locals who care about the beach and I am only one of many picking up the rubbish.
The sand dunes had been washed away and now looked like a cliff face and the tide was currently coming in.
Not surprisingly there were a number of like minded beach lovers walking, collecting bits of wood and swimming in the not too safe very rough choppy ocean. Exhilarating is the word I would use to describe the very good feeling I felt on the beach this afternoon.
But, it was the raucous laughter from a group of people sipping on wine on top of the sand dune that caught my attention. The end of the highly damaging low pressure trough was a good reason to celebrate.
By the time I was ready to leave the beach the sunset colours filled the sky enhancing even further the picture perfect light. This last photo would have to be the favourite one of all my shots during the wow walk along this battered surf beach.
But, on the other hand should I be concerned at the gathering rain clouds as another low pressure trough is forecasted. It will be a wait and see as usual. I do feel so sorry for the huge number of people who have had to leave their flooded homes. They definitely do not need more rain.

I am always grateful that I have a beach so close for my regular walks. Choosing this location for a retirement home has proven to be very fortuitous not only for a healthy lifestyle and the ongoing entertainment put on by the great life force of nature, but also for the constant creative photo opportunities that keep coming my way.
