I missed a week of writing on Hive. Even though I had promised myself so much that it wouldn't happen.
Things just happen that are not always in our control.
For example, on December 21, 2021, my grandmother passed away in the Netherlands. Because of the many relatives who live in Suriname, her body comes to Suriname and will be cremated on December 29 in Suriname. That was her last wish.
My stepfather is still in the hospital. Not on oxygen anymore, but he has to stay in the hospital for the time being.
When I realize that my stepfather will probably never be the same again, even when he comes out of the hospital, the responsibility of the household gradually begins to weigh on my shoulders.
I don't want my stepfather's farmland overgrown, so I've now employed some workers to do the work. He had planted about 5,000 banana trees and much more, all of which now need care.
Since our house is awfully far from the hospital and we like to be close to him these days, we are staying with relatives who live near the hospital.
Our house has been a bit deserted since two weeks. Yesterday we drove over to get some stuff to see how there are spiders everywhere. And the ants are celebrating in the house.
The yard full of blades of grass and the pumpkin plants are under water because of the heavy rains in the country the past few days. A look at it left a sore feeling, but for now we have other priorities.
Although I was and am grateful for being well and healthy myself, I still hope and pray that the coming year will bring with it more beautiful days.
