Hello creative people at Hive, my warmest greetings to those lovely people who spend a few minutes reading my posts. Due to study, I've been somewhat absent from my posts. As an apology, I bring you this super-simple idea. All you need is fabric scraps, a needle, thread, creativity, and patience. So, without further ado, let's begin today's guide.

Hola gente creativa de Hive, mis más cordiales saludos a esas lindas personas que se dedican a leer unos minutos mis post, por motivos de estudio he estado un poco ausente de las publicaciones. Y a modo de disculpa les traigo esta idea súper sencilla solo necesitas, retazos de telas, aguja, hilo, creatividad y paciencia. Así que sin más preámbulos empezamos con la guía de hoy.

And so, my creative friends, first we need to choose the type of pillow or cushion, then the scraps that are large enough for them. In this case, I have a lot of yellow fabric, so I decided to make the two-tone designs. They'll all be yellow and will be combined with different prints. This is my case; you can combine them however you wish.

Y bueno mis creativos, primero para empezar necesitamos escoger el tipo de almohada y o cojín, después los retazos que den un tamaño suficiente para los mismos, en este caso tengo bastante tela amarilla así que decidí hacer los diseños bicolores, todas tendrán amarillo e irán combinados con diferentes estampados. Esto es en mi caso, tú lo puedes combinar como desees.

After the selection, we took the length measurements. What I did was just eyeball it, but if you prefer to measure with a tape measure or a ruler, go ahead.

What I did next was fold the scrap in half and then cut it, so I had the length for both sides.

Después de la selección tomamos las medidas de largo, yo lo que hice fue tomarla así al ojo, pero si prefieres medir con una cinta métrica o una regla, entonces adelante.

Lo que hice luego fue doblar el retazo a la mitad y después corté y así tuve el largo para ambos lados

With a colored pencil, I outlined the height, which I measured, and in my case it was 22 cm, so this will be the measurement for the other pieces.

Then I cut them out. I know this will be obvious, but I must remind you that it's recommended to use scissors specifically for fabric, meaning they'll only be used for that purpose, as the scissors will nick and make ugly cuts.

Con un lápiz de color delineé la altura que esta si la medí y en mi caso dio 22cm, así que esta será la medida para las otras piezas.

Después recorté. Sé que será muy obvio, pero está dentro de mi deber recordarles que es recomendable usar una tijera específicamente para la tela, es decir que solo se usará para eso porque la tijera se mellará y hará unos cortes muy feos.

After cutting out the pieces of the cover, I measure them to see how they look. This is to see if they are too big that I would have to cut them, or if they are too small, then cut another piece or in fact make the back piece bigger, but they turned out to be the perfect size.

Después de recortar las ahora piezas de la funda, las mido a ver como se le ven, esto es para ver si están o muy grandes que tendría que recortar o si están pequeños, entonces cortar otra pieza o en efecto hacer la pieza del reverso más grande, pero me quedaron del tamaño perfecto.

Once we had our size, we placed our piece on the scrap to measure the length. As a safety measure, I placed the ruler so the measurement wouldn't roll when I folded the fabric.

After folding it, we used the ruler and colored pencil to mark and cut. Since the edges were uneven, I had to correct this and then cut the height. And so we continued. For this occasion, I'm going to make three cushion covers, so we'll need to cut six yellow pieces from the yellow pieces.

Al tener nuestro tamaño, sobre el retazo colocamos nuestra pieza para tomar la medida del largo, como medida de seguridad coloqué la regla para cuando doble la tela no se ruede la medida.

Luego de doblarla, con la regla y el lápiz de color marcamos y recortamos, como las orillas estaban desniveladas me tocó corregir esto para luego cortar la altura, y así seguimos, para esta ocasión voy a hacer tres forros de cojines así que de piezas amarillas necesitaremos cortar seis piezas amarillas.

After cutting all the yellow pieces, we started with the different colored scraps, starting with this one, which seemed a few centimeters too small for me, but that's not a concern, since I took the precaution of making the length a little larger than the cushion.

So this one was a little tight, but that's not a problem, so I matched the scraps so they were as even as possible. After matching the fabric, we chose the length and cut. We opened the fabric in half and cut, and that's it, we have the two pieces for one cover.

Después de cortar todas las piezas amarillas empezamos con los retazos de diferentes colores, empezando por este que al parecer me quedara unos centímetros más pequeños, pero no es para preocupación, ya que me tome la precaución de hacer que el largo fuera un poco más grande que el cojín.

Así que esta me quedara un poco justa, pero eso no es problema, así que empareje el retazo para que me quedara lo más parejo posible. Luego de emparejar la tela, escogemos el largo y cortamos, abrimos la tela a la mitad y cortamos, y así tenemos las dos piezas para una funda.

We continue with the next fabric, this time it has the necessary width, so what I did was measure the length and cut, we cut two pieces to complete the set of pieces for the second cover.

Proseguimos con la siguiente tela, en esta ocasión tiene el ancho necesario, así que lo que hice fue medir el largo y cortar, cortamos dos piezas para así completar el juego de piezas para la segunda funda.

Then we move on to the next and final piece of fabric. I have two identical strips, the length of which I just had to measure, and then I'm ready to sew.

This can be done by hand or with a sewing machine. I did it with a sewing machine.

Luego seguimos con la siguiente y última tela de esta, tengo dos tiras iguales que solo tuve que medirles el largo y listo para coser.

Puede ser hecho a mano o con máquina de coser, yo lo hice con la máquina de coser.

This is how the three covers would look, I loved the result, and they look even prettier when they are on.

Así se verían las tres fundas, el resultado me encantó, y puestas se ven mas lindas.

And this is how they would end up looking. It's a lovely result, which adds even more joy to the bed sheet set, and the best part is that it can be in any style you desire. I hope you liked the result and that this project has been very useful. Until next time.
