Ritchie Valens
Have you ever heard of this song? So old but still so good! Ritchie Valens, born Richard Steven Valenzuela is a rock and roll pioneer who started his career in 1958. He is the forefather of the Chicano Rock. He was well known for his tune Donna, and La Bamba which was originally a folk song of Mexican and he turns it into rock and roll, the version we all has come to love. I think it's the only version I ever heard in my life. He is a self taught musician where his love of music started at the age of five and was supported by his father to pick up the guitar and play. He was left handed but he learn to play the guitar right handed like most people. At the autumn of 1958, Ritchie dropped out of highschool to pursue his career which brought him into fame. Imagined that, already living his dream at just 17 years old. He bought a house for his mother and siblings and gave them better life. Sadly, at February 3, 1959, the world lost many stars. Ritchie was on his way to another show with fellow musicians Buddy Holly and J. P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson, and pilot Roger Peterson where they crashed. Ritchie was the youngest to die at the age of 18. It was a sad day for the music industry and the world of rock and roll.
