I'm pretty much sure you all have heard that Akon has launched his own cryptocurrency alias Akoin. But we're not here to talk about the tokeneconomics of the coin though I should probably look it up.

No, even more excitingly, he's intends to build a crypto city in Senegal that solely run on renewable energy, that if successful, will branch out to the other African nations, and then onto the rest of the World.

Akon City:

He already has the papers, and has received 2000 acres of land from the president. The constructions started March last year to should end in 10 years, and then another 50 to 100 for the whole project to come to fruition. (Double that imo馃槕)

It's fascinating really, the optimistic in me is doing optimistic things while the pessimist in me, although exhausted from all the hard work after Sun's acquisition of steemit, still chimes in.

Possible Obstacles:

Not to take shots at my fellow Africans but, corruption tends to be prevalent, plus we are usually very reluctant when it comes to trying new technologies.

This article that brings up the likelihood of the project only increasing gentrification in an area already struggling with housing problems among other issues.

Funding.

Impossible is Nothing?:

Yes the whole thing does seem impossible but hey, Akon has already proven to do the impossible like he haa provided scalable solar energy to many African cities, while making millions in the process, as he should.

So, what are your thoughts on this project? Do you think it's achievable? If so, when do you think it will be completed? Or, say it ain't so, think it's a scam? Anyways, I look forward to your input;

PEACE!!
