The ancient period was a very interesting time of human history. They had some great ideas, that lasted until our time. And they build buildings that lasted for the ages.
The ancient period has also many similarities to the life I live.
Rome had peace and stability for a very long time. The culture was thriving, the economy grew and people have been happy. The Roman Empire lasted for centuries.
Still at the edges there was war. There have been problems.
We also face problems in our time - although many countries have a great stability and peace. The Western countries haven't really seen war since WW II on their mainland territories. Since war is the most destructive thing, that can happen to societies, it is really good for a people to be spared of it.
I am glad that I never had to experience any war myself. I did see riots from time to time, when I was traveling. But it never escalated.
The pandemic is bad. But it could be a lot worse. So it is a great time to be alive.
