Hello, Steemit! My name is Andrea Paola. I was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela, but I live in Caracas, the great capitol. I’ve been living here for six years. I originally moved to Caracas to major in Biology at one of the most prestigious science universities in the country, but half of my body was willing to do whatever to dedicate my life to art. A lot happened and, after the biggest inner competition I’ve ever had, I ended up studying Theatre, specifically acting. Right now I’m about to finish my degree (if I manage to end my final investigation paper one day).
Even tho I’ve never studied literature, it has always been my main passion. For a few years now I’ve been dedicated to creative and web content writing. I write poetry and fiction, I’m a coordinator and proofreader and also work as a coordinator in my favorite Venezuelan publishing house, a job I never dreamed about where I can do what I love and be completely me. My creative work has taken a lot of relevance in Venezuela over the past year, and beside a few awards and participations in literature events and book festivals I can count 2017 as the year of my first printed publication, a beautiful poetry anthology called Amanecimos sobre la palabra (We woke up over the word).
Another important part of my life is the work I do with gender studies. A couple of years ago I took the initiative to start a Gender Studies group at Simón Bolívar University, I’ve studied like crazy and I’ve been part of feminist and LGBTIQ+ campaigns. It’s a subject that really means a lot to me and identity construction is my main line of research, a topic I’ve combined with my theatrical and literary creation.
A lot of people had already talk to me about Steemit before, but it was the excitement of @dorietmon what actually got me into signing up, telling me this place full of creativity and great vibes was the right one for me. So here I am, whiling to talk about anything and everything, to debate and share about literature, movies, philosophy, theatre, gender and more. See you soon!
