Here is a picture after completion of the plaster patch. I am going over the entire area with a sand drywall mud mix.

Mixing the plaster. Start with a little under a 1/4 bucket of water. Dump a couple of table spoons of bonding agent . Then dump the bucket nearly full of base coat plaster. Use the drill an paddle to mix.
