I needed a cuddle this evening. There were work challenges that I overcame today that I was not anticipating this morning and it quickly went from a pleasant morning to full blown crisis management mode. By late afternoon I had a headache.

After working flat out on the issue for hours, I had to shift focus to dinner, bath & sleep time for Lory. Once she was asleep I stole 20 minutes to myself to collect my thoughts. It was nice to finally be able to still my mind from the racing, slow my breathing and find that inner serenity that was missing from most of the day.

Perhaps my energy changed in that instant because my kittens came in for a bit of a snuggle & pur, a few head scratches and it was exactly what I needed in that moment to reset, find that equilibrium again and cement it within me. I think they needed it too.

The feline presence helped immensely. Even though I have a pounding headache, I know that a good night's sleep with my babies will help and in the morning I'll be able to continue. Today really took it out of me. I am so grateful to have Lory, Oghma & Snowball here with me at this moment. They know exactly how to flick me straight out of fast forward mode back into relaxation mode. Once I have solved the issue I'm treating Lory & I out to get something sweet and decadent and the kittens can have a tin of tuna. I think we all deserve it (they most certainly do having put up with me today).

My two cats really are the sweetest creatures, they are family. These two have such different personalities (chalk & cheese) and yet they complement each other so well. I am so very fortunate to have them in my life and I hope they could feel my appreciation tonight with our little cuddle session. I don't know what I would do without my favourite people.
