The picture today is a woolly monkey. I took this photo in the Amazon in Iquitos, Perú. Close to this city there is a reserve where they care for and protect different types of monkeys.
Many of these monkeys arrive there because they are rescued after being victims of abuse by their owners or victims of animal trafficking. Unfortunately the animal trade is common in this area and they are sold to tourists in the local markets.
La foto de hoy es de un mono lanudo. Esta fotografía la tomé en el Amazonas, específicamente en Iquitos, Perú. Cerca de esta ciudad hay una reserva en la que se dedican a cuidar y proteger diferentes tipos de monos.
Muchos de estos monos llegan allí porque son rescatados después de haber sido víctimas de abuso por parte de sus dueños o víctimas de tráfico animal. Desafortunadamente es normal que en esta área se comercié con los animales, ellos son vendidos a los turistas en los mercados locales.
