The Nuremberg Trails had a lot of promise. Had they been done right they could have deterred governments for generations from starting armed conflicts between nations. However, I am not sure that it was supposed to do this. If you look at the people they put on the trail you have to ask yourself, "what was the purpose?". They should've gone after the higher up monsters that worked shoulder to shoulder with Hitler. You know the nuclear scientists and the psychologists. But no, they got new identities and new lives here in the states with either project paperclip or MK Ultra program. That will show the bastards. New life, new home, and country with plenty of everything. That will teach them.
If you are new to my page, I tend to be a little sarcastic at times. Especially, when I talk about the utter stupidity of the government. Had the Nuremberg Trails put the head Generals and Admirals on the trail, we problem wouldn't be in half of the countries we are in. The message would have been clear, pull crap Germany did and your head will roll. No, they prosecuted mid-level guys who barely knew anything. They were just following orders. Orders that came in a verticle line. There was no negotiating. And they paid with their lives for the most. Meanwhile, monsters like Josef Mengele went to South America and his comrades in torture got scattered across the world where they started new lives while their underlings paid for their crimes. Along with their own crimes.
I say it was an obvious failure also because the trails weren't a decade old and this government sent soldiers to the North Korean Conflict to face Russia. By then Russia also had a nuclear bomb made by other Nazi soldiers that didn't come here to America. Go figure! Different governments achieving the same goal at the same time. Who seen that coming! That fact is the Nuremberg Trails had the potential to stop governments from ever starting armed conflicts without consequences. And it failed. The fact our government and the government of Israeli, of all the governments in the world to part take in genocide, are behaving just as bad as the Nazi's did. Actually, these two governments have left the Nazis of Germany in the dust with their current behavior. Remember "enhanced interrogations" later exposed as torture had Saddam used them.
