Individuality is the idea that everybody is different. Individualism is the act of pinning the position of the individual on the individual themselves. It turns out mostly rich people believe this, while people on the other side of the spectrum don't buy into that idea. It's almost like to feel morally correct rich people must find a justification that fits their position in the world, instead of a position in the world that fits their morals. Poor people simply don't have the capital to do things, and rich people can't understand that situation. Equal opportunity is giving people all the tools they need to succeed, individualism is assuming that if people don't have the tools it's their fault. Capitalism isn't equal anything.

The basis of collectivism is not taking away your individuality, it is giving you the tools to become an individual. Collectivism is based on the idea of equal opportunity, calling capitalism equal opportunity is just stealing a leftist talking point. The Nazis called themselves national socialists, but had plans to slaughter socialists the second the party got power, and instead privatised all national industry and pushed the country into late stage capitalism. Capitalists literally can't justify their system, so they must pretend it is as justified as other systems by pretending it is like them.
