Hello everyone and welcome to the Battle Weekly Challenge. This week is the turn of the dragons! Dragons are one of the most fun elements in Splinterlands as it gives you the opportunity to combine your cards with other elements.

This time I had to fight against an opponent who had higher level cards than mine. So let's see how the battle unfolded.

Battle Rules

In this case the rules are simple. It is a 23 mana cap battle with the rules "Healed Out" and "Heavy Hitters" in which we can only use the elements "Life" and "Dragon".

Healed Out: All healing abilities are removed from Monsters and Summoners.
Heavy Hitters: All monsters do double damage when attacking an enemy that is stunned.

My Lineup

SummonerBuffElementStrategy
+1 Magic attackDragonDelwyn Dragonscale gives +1 magic attack to all friendly magic attack monsters and the possibility to combine our cards with other Splinters since he is a dragon Summoner. I think he is a good choice in this battle because "Life" and "Dragon" don't have very strong monsters to defend against magic attacks in low mana games.

1stVoid DragonFlying & VoidVoid Dragon is one of my favorite dragons. He is fast, has a lot of health and his abilities allow us to defend ourselves from monsters with melee, magic and ranged attacks. It is a very complete card for only 5 mana.
2ndCreeping OozeSlowOoze is one of those cards that fits very well into almost any composition. I find it especially good in low mana games thanks to its "Slow" ability, which reduces the attack speed of all enemy monsters allowing our monsters to attack first and have less chance to miss.
3rdSerpentine MysticAfflictionSerpentine Mystic's ability won't help us in this battle due to the Healed Out rule. However, its low mana cost along with the +1 magic attack bonus from our Summoner make it really useful in this battle.
4thDragon WhelpFlyingCard with very low mana cost that in combination with our Summoner allows us to make +1 additional magic attack.
5thLight ElementalFlyingUnfortunately I didn't have any more low mana magic dragons, but thanks to our dragon Summoner I was able to choose the "Life" element to use this card, which fits perfectly in our composition due to its great magic attack.
6thNaga AssassinIncredibly fast card for two mana. Hopefully she will allow us to dodge some attacks in battle.

Position Strategy

Void Dragon: I have decided to use Void Dragon in the first position due to its large amount of health and its speed. The speed together with his ability to fly will allow us to dodge a large amount of melee and ranged attacks. In addition, thanks to its "Void" ability we can mitigate magic damage. Therefore, for 5 mana we have a tank that is good at defending against everything (melee, ranged and magic attacks) .

Creeping Ooze: I have decided to put Creeping Ooze in the second position to defend my magic attack monsters against a possible monster with the Snipe ability. Ooze in the second position will receive the first attack with Snipe from the opponent, so the rest of our magic attack monsters should do some damage in the first turn.

Serpentine Mystic, Dragon Whelp and Light Elemental: They are our team's main source of damage. They are in the middle position (3rd, 4th and 5th) to stay alive as long as possible and do as much damage as possible in battle.

Naga Assassin: I have decided to put Naga Assassin in the last position to defend my magic attack monsters against monsters with the Sneak ability. "Life" has very strong monsters with the Sneak ability like Feral Spirit or Stitch Leech which are often used in the Silver league. Naga Assassin has the advantage of being a card with a lot of speed, so she is perfect to defend against this kind of monsters.

Did your strategy work?

I think my strategy worked quite well seeing that I was able to beat an opponent with higher level cards than mine relatively easily. I think we managed to surprise our opponent with our team as he prepared to defend against melee and ranged attack monsters while we use magic attack monsters. Therefore, I am happy with the result and the strategy I used.

Do you like Dragons?

I love dragons. I think they are one of the most fun elements of Splinterlands as they allow you to perform very varied strategies and use a variety of cards to surprise your opponent. The possibilities with dragons are limitless. Their power and versatility allow us to win many battles. I love them!
