A big Hello and a warm "Namaste" from the land of the Himalayas, Gurkhas and Lord Buddha. I am Dr. Anadi Khatri and I am an eye specialist and surgeon from Nepal.
This is me at beautiful valley of Mustang, Nepal - where your soul , the clouds and the mountains meet and are one.
I was told by many that steemit is a gold mine. You earn with “clicks”. Easy money. That was what people stress upon. But they don’t realize – the freedom to express is not something you can take for granted anymore.
Happiness are in little things that we do. I saw this kid - entertaining his siblings on my way to work today
Yes, you can express- it is your right but it has to fall into the right people. There is a saying – being on the right platform is no more be a problem for many but getting on the right train is the new challenge. Steemit provides both the platform and the train in that matter. Meeting new people, new minds, new visionaries, new friends and families – that is why I am here.
Being a doctor –I feel life has two faces. All day- work .I meet my patients. Get to hear their amazing stories, their problems, their struggle, their happiness and their road to recovery. Sometimes these stories play with your emotions– Pushing you to extreme of joy and in next second- make you sad and drop you down to tears.
For an instance, I had a patient who had been treated successfully for Retinoblastoma (an eye cancer – mainly affecting children), thanking me and crying with happiness – while after few minutes I had another – who had an end stage breast cancer – which had not spread to both her eyes and was telling me – “I have accepted my situation .But my family was the last thing I wanted to see before I leave- now I can’t even do that.”
Many years have gone since I started my practice. But I had never got a chance like this to express- to this many people at one time.
Beside my stories sharing, I see the huge potential steemit has in many of the charity works that I am currently involved in.
A successfully treated case of Left eye retinoblastoma- smiles to see his face in selfie mode
It mainly includes school eye screening programs and spectacles distribution (major visual morbidity), vision restoration surgery (Cataract surgery) for the underprivileged and (Eye cancer) Retinoblastoma chemotherapy cost coverage for needy.
When a simple 2 dollar spectacles helps a child see how beautiful the world really is, when a 15 dollar surgery brings a smile and tears to a grandfather when he sees his grandchild for the first time and a 25 dollar chemo medication saves an infant's life and later comes to meet you at a follow-up- only you to find out he has now joined school- the joy, happiness and satisfaction are unparalleled.
Here I am operating on Maili, 82 years old who has travelled for 15 hours by road. She shares that she had planned this 2 years back but lost everything to earthquake and had to wait for charity work .
Poverty is a criminal in a country like ours. But needless blindness is not an excuse for anyone to perish more.
I believe together we can do something great and bring many smiles. They say it takes a lot and only few are gifted to make someone smile but here- we all are just one smile away. So far it has been my project or my charity. Let’s make it our charity.
#steemitforsmile.
To contribute on my behalf to steemit community, I am willing to make basic eye consultations or queries regarding any issues on eye health free of charge.

God said let there be light and there was light. Then he said let there be sight, then there was "us". It’s time the eyes start seeing what the mind doesn’t know. God bless you all.
