I stumbled into a shop that had grass mats on the walls.
There I stood watching the elderly couple make make on a loom that was made by hand. Such lovely people they invited me in and offered me to sit with them as they weaved.
Here is a snot of the materials that are being used and the results of what we are trying to make here.
The loom is run by two people and a stick instead of a shuttle cock, due to the grass not sliding easily through the weave.
The finger work and meticulous ability to actuate with feet, the loom, and with hands the strands.
Another hand is needed and the woman here helps out and preps the man to make the mat by way of team work.

It is quite something to see these two work together creating a design layout and pattern they they can stay together on and accomplish. Team work make the dream work and these two are an example of that working together to make a difference.
Each finger move and armature swing make this mate just that much thicker each time if I used.
The hands of this man show the length of time they have been here fore....I wonder what those hands have seen before this day of mat weaving on the floor.
I sit and am shown what to do and how to help....Ill send the wrapped stick acting as a shuttlecock through, to help build the pattern of colours as some lines are brought tot he back and some to the front.
How meticulous he is with each action involved with the steps to each throw.

The need of others to help build what is required is necessary to accomplishing much of what must get done. They work together and have for many years to create the beauty they now have.
Here we have a Westerner helping the process of sliding wound sticks through the opening for the wave to take place.
It is fascinating have so many times everything moves and shuffles around how many times each action must be repeated until there is a scrap of mat left over by that work. Then more and more action and time passes and more and more mate is revealed to show that each step no matter the colour of difficulty or ease all add up to a greater tapestry then any one action can culminate to be more then it was alone.
Here is the finished product. I would take one of these with me but I do not typically buy things that I do not need and would only have to pack on a motorcycle and get ruined when I travel around. Ill leave it for someone who would use this mate. It was a pleasure to help make a mat and be in the presence of this shop and the owners.
