Aceh is one of the areas within the State of Indonesia which has abundant natural wealth with the income of cloves and spices. The Aceh fight was led by Panglima Polem and Sultan Mahmud Syah, while the Dutch were led by Kohler. The Dutch troops under the leadership of Kohler had many followers and many troops were elites under his care. But he and his troops can be defeated by the people of Aceh who are controlled by the Commander of Polem and Sultan Mahmud Shah.

Aceh merupakan salah satu wilayah dalam Negara Indonesia yang memiliki kekayaan alam yang berlimpah dengan penghasilan cengkeh dan rempah-rempah. Perperangan Aceh ini dipimpin oleh Panglima Polem dan Sultan Mahmud Syah, sedangkan Belanda yg dipimpin Kohler. Pasukan Belanda dibawah pimpinan Kohler ini memiliki banyak pengikutnya dan banyak pasukan yang elit-elit dibawah asuhannya. Namun dirinya dan pasukannya bisa dikalahkan oleh rakyat Aceh yang dikendalikan oleh Panglima Polem dan Sultan Mahmud Syah.

With the death of Dutch elite officials, Dutch troops continued to come to Aceh to wage war with the initial goal to control the territory of the capital of Aceh and control the Mosque Baiturrahman. War is very terrible when the people of Aceh want to recapture Baiturrahman Great Mosque which was once controlled by the Dutch group. This resistance is assisted by the people of Aceh who are all directions ranging from Lambhuk, Lampu'uk, Peukan Bada, Krueng Raya to the corners of the pasee ocean.

Kohler juga mengalami nasib yang sama dengan pasukannya, dia juga mati dalam peperangan ini. Kohler mati pada tanggal 14 April 1873. Dengan kematian petinggi elit belanda, pasukan belanda terus berdatangan ke Aceh untuk melakukan peperangan dengan tujuan awalnya untuk menguasai wilayah ibukota Aceh dan menguasai Mesjid Baiturrahman. Perang sangat dasyat disaat masyarakat Aceh ingin merebut kembali Masjid Raya Baiturrahman yang dulunya dikuasai oleh kelompok Belanda. Perlawanan ini dibantu oleh masyarakat Aceh yang ada diseluruh penjuru mulai dari Lambhuk, Lampu’uk, Peukan Bada, Krueng Raya sampai ke penjuru samudra pasee.

Perang Aceh dengan belanda ini bertujuan agar Negara Belanda berhak mendapatkan pantai Utara Sumatera. Dalam hal tersebut Komisaris Pemerintah Frederik Nicolaas Nieuwenhuijzen yang menjabat sebagai juru runding mencoba untuk mengadakan perundingan dengan Sultan Aceh mengenai perebutan pantai tersebut dengan hasil pihak belanda tidak beruntung dan tidak mendapatkan sebagaimana yang diharapkan sehingga Belanda menyatakan perang kembali dengan rakyat Aceh atas saran dari GubJen James Loudon.

The Dutch tactics further destroyed the people of Aceh by killing all the people of Aceh like the killings in Kuta Reh and then the Dutch troops captured Cut Nyak Dhien because it was still fighting and did not want to surrender so he could be arrested and in secret way he was taken to Sumedang.

Taktik Belanda sangat kejam dengan mengupayakan segala cara untuk menaklukkan rakyat Aceh, dengan menahan putra sultan sebagai bentuk Sandra agar para sultan menyerah, seperti menahan putra Sultan Ibrahim. Akibatnya, Sultan Ibrahim harus menyerah. Kemudian pasukan Belanda dengan diam-diam menyergap wilayah Tangse untuk menangkap panglima Polim, Panglima Polim tidak berhasil ditangkap dan sebagai gantinya ditangkap putera Panglima Polim, sehingga Panglima Polim juga harus menyerah. Taktik Belanda selanjutnya memusnahkan rakyat Aceh dengan cara membunuh seluruh rakyat Aceh seperti pembunuhan di Kuta Reh dan selanjutnya pasukan Belanda menangkap Cut Nyak Dhien karena masih melakukan perlawanan dan tidak mau menyerah sehingga ia dapat ditangkap dan dengan cara sembunyi-sembunyi ia dibawa ke Sumedang.

Belanda tidak dapat menguasai wilayah Aceh dikarenakan rakyat Aceh akan tetap melakukan perlawanan terhadap Belanda meskipun peperangan tersebut dilakukan rakyat Aceh tanpa memiliki senjata ampuh seperti yang dimiliki oleh Belanda.
