“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus”. KJV (Philippians 3:13-14)
Life is great and life can be really good. God has provided all we will ever need in this world. In His word, He has given us great and precious promises such that you could almost see all your desires granted and your dreams come to pass just like that. But it doesn’t always happen for us like that.
There is one ingredient that will make all that we see in God’s word and in life come to pass, there is something to do that will make God’s promises a reality in our lives. That ingredient is the skill and virtue of pressing. This was the secret of Paul the Apostle. It was one thing that made him to stand out from all other Apostles.
In Corinthians 15:10 he said “I am what I am by the grace of God, but I labored more abundantly than them all”. He labored, pressing towards His mark.
Things may not always come when you want them to come. Any successful person you see around will tell you that the road to success is not necessarily a straight line but one filled with bumps and hassles.
Every successful person have had to pass through the school of pressure to get to where he or she is today. The reason is that life does not always give you what you deserve but what you demand by pressing. You will have to go back and do again and again those things you failed at in time past.
Satanic interference can occur as your blessings or desires are on the way like it happened to Daniel for twenty-one days. But remember, Daniel pressed and kept pressing till he got his answers. The missing ingredient in that endeavor of yours may be the pressing factor. You will need to apply pressure in the direction of your blessing, without which something may not happen or come to pass.
What do you need to do to press successfully?
Have a mark!
No mark, no pressure. The absence of a mark is the condoning of mediocrity. That word “mark” means a “goal” and a “standard”. Literarily, it means distance and height.
Until you have a mark to hit, the press in you will never come out. So, what is the mark you have set? What is the standard you have kept for yourself? Now determine to reach it within a set time and the press in you will come out.
