*“And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter. And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech. And, behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said unto the reapers, The LORD be with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless thee. Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, whose damsel is this?"(Ruth 2:2-5 KJV)

Just one question from Boaz changed everything in the life of Ruth. Boaz asked “whose maiden is this”? And then there were people readily placed by God to supply the answers to the CEO of Boaz multi-national business enterprise. While we may celebrate that favour done to Ruth by God, we must understand how she positioned herself for it.
She had lost both her husband, brother in-law and father in-law, but she considered that Naomi her mother in-law had suffered more losses than she and her sister in-law. So, she devoted herself to help and bless her mother in-law.

Ruth abandoned her people and a beautiful prospect of remarriage, all to embark on a journey of uncertainty for Naomi. When she landed in Israel, she refused to sit idle in laziness, instead, she moved to glean for food from the fields after the harvesters of Israel, and God made sure that her steps were ordered to the right farm of Boaz, her near kinsman – someone whose responsibility it was to play the role of a husband to her in the place of her late husband. And then he asked “whose damsels is that”.

She didn’t go looking for a husband or prospective suitor, rather she went looking for help for her mother in-law, and she found favour in the sight of Boaz who became her husband. Service was the key. Do not shy away from service opportunities, and if there are none, create one the way Ruth did. It may interest you to know that all the recorded marriages of women in the Bible had their meeting points at the place of service. People of service are easy recipients of countless favours any time any day.
Receive grace for service and favour in Jesus Name.
