Colossians 3:1-4

“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.” (Colossians 3:1)

I really don’t know how many persons out there that will be excited that their spouses think more of another person than they think of them. If that happens, an accusation of infidelity will be raised immediately. Unfortunately, it appears that many believers are involved in this spiritual infidelity.

If Christ has paid your bride price, you have no option but to think of what he thinks of; seek the things that concerns him; set your mind on where he is.

This passage suggests that when one focuses his thinking pattern of the things of the world, it is likely that he has not been raised with Christ nor has his life been hidden with Christ in God, though this is the promise of God to all believers in Christ Jesus. Paul was not saying we should not eat nor work, nor wear clothing etc. but that we should above all and at all times focus on and think more highly and reverentially of the One that provides those things – God, and also the Kingdom of God.

The life you have now is actually not yours but Christ’s. it then means you must allow him to rule and superintend over the life the possible way. Not doing this will diminish your appearance and glory when he appears, the way the glory of a spouse diminishes because of infidelity.

Ask the Lord to help you to consistently set your mind on Him and things that are above, since that is the core of your salvation.
