“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” (Genesis 1:28 KJV)
Man was made to have dominion on the earth on behalf of God. God did not want this side of His creation to be without control and supervision, so He made man to be in charge of all the living things He created here. But the process to this dominion was first the blessing of fruitfulness, multiplication and replenishment. But there is no more step, which is to subdue.
We will not be able to dominate what we have not been able to subdue, and to subdue is to overcome, weaken, quieten, and deprive of power and to bring under control. It begins with you the believer. You cannot subdue the world when you have not been able to subdue yourself. This means you will have to bring yourself under control too. A man who is out of control cannot bring anything under control. Hence, subjugation must begin with you.
Paul put it so aptly in 1 Corinthians 9:26-27 “I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: 27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”
Suffice it to say that in many regards, you are the first mission field that must be attended to. If your body and bodily passions have not been conquered then your dominion mission may not be in view yet. God works from the inside-out; He first prepares the man before He commissions the man for the mission.
Your assignment from now on is to begin an “operation subdue” in your life. Because those aspects of you yet subdued will compromise your mission eventually. Paul said “lest after preaching to others I become a castaway”.
You will not become a castaway in Jesus Name.
